About Australian Chinese Charity Foundation

The Australian Chinese Charity Foundation was established in 1991 as a broad base charity organisation to help the community at large. It is supported by the generosity of 7 Patrons, 72 Trustees, 84 Life Members, and Members, and the great dedication of a Management Committee - all voluntary members. They have worked consistently to achieve its aims and objectives, and in extending the network to many other organisations.

The financial fund base has increased during the past years and will hopefully, continue to grow. The Foundation has received great support from Corporate Sponsors including ANZ Private Bank, InvoCare, QANTAS; many Event Sponsors, local community organisations and a large number of individuals.

A Fund/Grant Assessment Committee determines the distribution of Funds. Emergency funds to individuals provide a maximum of $1,000.00 and Grants to Organisations for specific projects which benefits the community have a maximum of $7,000.00. Recipient groups fall into five categories, i.e. Elderly, Youth Groups, Children, Accident Victims, and emergency appeals which have included New South Wales Bushfire Appeal, Rwanda Appeal, Taiwan Earthquake Disaster, East Timor Community Appeal.

During the years since its inception, the Foundation has enjoyed the support given by Vice Regal patronage and is very grateful for the distinguished presence of the incombent Governor of New South Wales at the fund raising activities organised annually.

Of the events held each year, one of the most successful to date has been the FESTIVAL OF NATIONS took place annually for four consecutive years, attracting many participants, performers and visitors to Darling Harbour. The ANNUAL DINNER and various Special Events are organised to raise funds for specific causes and projects.

Much of the success of the Foundation is due to the excellent work of the Management Committee who give generously of their time and efforts so tirelessly each year.

With continued support and generosity the Foundation will be able to better their efforts in assisting those in need of help.
